The Unseen Threshold

Separation and Divorce as Sacred Passage

November 13–16, 2025

Earth Song Sanctuary

Western North Carolina, USA

A ritual immersion retreat for adult women navigating - or integrating - the transformational process of separation or divorce

The Unseen Threshold is a sacred space for women who are walking — or have walked — through the dissolution of marriage or an ending to a partnership. Divorce or separation is not only an ending, but also a profound initiation, a passage that reshapes identity, belonging, and the path ahead. This retreat offers a circle of nourishment, ritual, and recognition where women can be witnessed, held, and empowered to reap the profound benefits of this transformation.

This is a rite of passage for women reclaiming themselves from the fires of separation. Through elemental ritual, body practice, grief ceremony, and creative expression, you will be met exactly where you are and supported in remembering who you are becoming.

Program Highlights

Art Therapy: Creative expression to give form to the unseen layers of this journey.

Food as Medicine: Shared meals and teachings on nourishment as a way to restore body and spirit.

Council & Story: Circles of truth-telling and deep listening, where each woman’s experience is honored.

Nature Immersion: Practices of connection with the land to mirror and support inner renewal.

Somatic Experiencing: Gentle body-based practices to shift energy and awareness.

We recognize the ending of a relationship not as failure, but as initiation, a rite of passage into a deeper embodiment of truth, power, and soul, a passage that can feel like death and a rebirth, a rupture and a remembering.. Through ceremony, we speak to the wisdom of our body the way no words can. Together, we will tend the ashes of what has ended, and invoke the seeds of what is ready to be born.

Evelyn Irving

Evelyn Irving is an Ayurvedic practitioner, holistic chef, and above all, a guide into unknown territory. From horseback trail rides along the Pacific Crest Trail to leading bicycle tours through New England, she has long helped others find their way through both landscapes and life-scapes. Today, she brings that same spirit of guidance to the thresholds of healing and transformation.

Her own divorce in 2017 deepened this calling, affirming that stepping into new chapters—whether physical, emotional, or spiritual—requires perseverance and devotion to the path ahead, even when that path is unknown. With decades in the healing arts, a background in hospitality and nutrition, she bridges ancient wisdom with modern life, striving to make it both accessible and personally relevant.

She is honored to be walking beside others as they reclaim vitality, rediscover nourishment, embrace their whole selves and step with courage into the next chapter of their becoming. Whether in the kitchen, the consultation room, or under open skies, Evelyn brings presence, intuition, and care, holding space for each person’s unique rhythm, resilience, and unfolding.
